Reachout Now significantly improved an existing school in Dar-el-Salam, by constructing new classrooms and creating an improved learning environment for its students. Children from the nearby orphanage we constructed in 2011 will directly benefit, as around 70 of these children attend the school alongside children from the local neighbourhood.
Due to the rapid expansion of the town, the school was no longer equipped to sufficiently educate the increasing number of children who attended it. In each year group, around 200 children were crammed into a small classroom resulting in overcrowding with many children forced to sit on the floor (as seen below).
Construction of the new building is complete, and Reachout Now has pledged additional funds to provide chairs and desks for the classrooms, creating a space far more conducive to learning for the young students.
